For three days now I have lost
My well-being, my pleasure, all my love.
My heart is almost breaking in me
When I speak or when I write
For Belaud my small grey cat
Belaud who was, by chance,
Nature's most beautiful work
Thus made, as cats are made,
Belaud whose beauty was such
That she is worthy to be immortal.
